The Guernsey Raiders rugby team kicked off 2025 with a convincing win vs Havant. The match, held on Saturday 11 January, really gave the 450 strong crowd something to cheer about as Raider’s dominated play over the visiting team. OEs and College students were well represented on the day in both the Raiders and Vikings teams who took to the field to play, and younger players (many from College) acting as ball kids illustrating the true meaning of the Raiders 'One Club' mentality and inspiring the next generation of rugby players.
OE President Andy Niles (7423) and Treasurer Martin Le Pelley (7655) organised an OE table in the clubhouse following the match. It was a fantastic afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed by all the guests. Elizabeth College teacher Rachel Merrien was home commentator for the match and special guest at the table.
Rachel said: “It was fantastic to speak with OEs about College’s rugby 7s programme, where it has come from and where it is looking to aspire to be. I hope to see the OEs down in support at the First Elizabeth College Under 18s Boys tournament on Saturday 5th April at the Memorial Field.”
